Communiqué de l’AFPS concernant l’assassinat de Basem Abu Rahme à Bil’in lors d’une manifestation non-violente et message à la Conférence internationale de Bil’in

Le Bureau national de l’AFPS a appris avec colère et stupeur l’assassinat à Bil’in (Palestine), par l’armée israélienne, d’un jeune Palestinien qui comme chaque vendredi depuis quatre ans participait à une manifestation non-violente contre le mur qui a déjà enlevé plus de la moitié de ses terres à son village. Touché par un nouveau type de grenade qui avait récemment gravement blessé un citoyen américain au cours d’une autre manifestation non-violente, Basem Abu Rahme est mort presque immédiatement.
Cet assassinat est survenu le 17 avril, soit une semaine avant la quatrième conférence internationale organisée à Bil’in à laquelle doivent participer de nombreux militants internationaux.
La délégation de l’AFPS a été représentée aux obsèques de ce militant qui était devenu un ami. Toute la lumière devrait être faite sur les circonstances et les responsabilités de cet assassinat. Encore une fois, après le massacre de Gaza, l’armée israélienne vient de se couvrir de sang et de honte.

Chers amis de Bil’in
Voila maintenant quatre ans que vous poursuivez votre lutte contre le Mur d’annexion et le vol de vos terres par les colonies israéliennes et l’occupation militaire.
Malgré une répression militaire violente systématique vous ne cessez de manifester pacifiquement avec des Internationaux et des Israéliens pour affirmer haut et fort que vous ne plierez pas, que vous n’abandonnerez pas votre droit à la vie, à la dignité et, avec tout le peuple palestinien, que vous n’aurez de cesse de défendre les droits nationaux légitimes du peuple palestinien.
Aujourd’hui plus de soixante villages subissant la même situation mènent, comme vous, une lutte populaire non-violente contre le Mur et la colonisation : Na’lin, Jayyous, Al Ma’sara, Um Salamuna, etc.
Nous saluons la création de la coordination de ces villages et votre lutte commune pour votre terre, vos droits et la justice.
Comme pour les 3 années précédentes, l’Association France Palestine Solidarité sera représentée par une délégation importante à votre 4ème Conférence qui se tiendra du 22 au 24 avril 2009.

The national Board of AFPS has heard with anger and astonishment of the assassination in Bil’in (Palestine) by the Israeli army of a young Palestinian who was participating, like every Friday for the last four years, in a non-violent demonstration against the wall which has already taken more than half his village land. Hit by a new kind of grenade such as has seriously injured a US citizen during another non-violent demonstration recently , Basem Abu Rahme died almost immediately.
This assassination took place on the 17th of April, one week before the fourth international conference that will be held in Bil’in which many international activists will participate in.
The AFPS delegation was present for the funeral of this activist who had become a friend. It is essential to shed light on the circumstances of this assassination and the responsibilities. Once again, after the Gaza massacre, the Israeli army has covered itself in blood and shame.

Dear friends of Bil’in
It’s been 4 years now since you started fighting against the Israeli wall of annexation and the theft of your land by the Israeli settlements and the military occupation.
You are faced with continuous violent military repression, yet you continue persistently to demonstrate peacefully with Internationals and Israelis to claim to the face of the world that you will not yield. You claim that you will never give up your right to life and to dignity, that you will not cease, along with all the Palestinians, to defend the legitimate national rights of the Palestinian people.
More than 60 villages faced with the same situation are fighting today, peacefully, against the Israeli wall and colonisation : Na’lin, Jayyous, Al Ma’sara, Um Salamuna, etc.
We salute the decision to coordinate these villages and the fight you all share for your land, for your rights and for justice.
As we did in the past 3 years, France Palestine Solidarity will be present at your 4th annual conference held in Bil’in from 22nd to 24th April 2009.
An important AFPS delegation will attend it.
