I you are an European citizen, you can sign the European Citizen initiative in English language on Avaaz or SumOfUs
For us, writers, academics, artists, creators of various disciplines, equality between all human beings and respect for others are fundamental values to which we are very strongly attached. The acquisition of territories by force, population displacements and colonization are the exact opposite of these values. The supremacist and racist ideology that accompanies them is a poison that we must combat wherever it occurs.
The colonization of Palestine by the State of Israel, which has never stopped for decades, will further increase with the new Israeli government, which gives a large place and important powers to parties and personalities openly racists, and places at the forefront of its project the acceleration of the colonization of Palestinian lands. The Palestinian population, threatened in its means of existence, suffers the combined violence of the occupation army and the settlers.
Today, in this increasingly tragic context, we strongly ask the French and European authorities to act against this colonization and the endless military occupation that accompanies it, as well as for the protection of the Palestinian people. While the establishment of colonies in an occupied territory constitutes a war crime, the European Union continues to maintain commercial relations with the Israeli colonies established in occupied Palestine.
As citizens, we can and must act: the European Citizens’ Initiative #StopColonies (#StopSettlements), officially approved by the European Commission, aims to obtain from the latter that Europe end all trade with colonies established by an occupying power in any occupied territory.
We have a unique opportunity to send a clear signal and the prospect of a concrete result. To succeed, it is necessary to gather a million signatures.
We, writers, academics, artists, creators of various disciplines, signatories of this platform, support the European Citizens’ Initiative #StopColonies (#StopSettlements), and call on citizens to sign it and to have it widely signed in their entourage: https://stopcolonies.fr
