AFPS
AFPS to the groups of support to the Palestinians prisoners, to the Palestinian National Authority, to the people of Palestine.
April 2005, Paris
Dear friends,
AFPS is present with you in Ramallah today to renew its support to the Palestinian people in their fight against occupation, on the day of solidarity with your prisoners.
We are acutely aware of the crucial importance of the issue in any real peace negociation and possible agreement. Our mutual objective is to impose the end of the Israeli occupation of Palestine by enforcing the rule of law, and the implementation of international law.
We believe that in the discussions in Sharm el Sheikh your demands to Israel to free all the Palestinian political prisoners were both just and legitimate. There can be no end to the conflict as long as they remain in Israeli jails, in Israel or in the Israeli camps and settlements in occupied Palestine, in daily violation of international law, and international conventions.
At this time when the international community remains silent in the face of continuing occupation and colonisation , with the building of more settlements and apartheid roads, the continuation of the segregation wall, all the endless hardships that the check-points, invasions of villages and towns impose on the daily life of the people, we believe that it is high time it applied its own decisions and rules and forced tIsrael to abide by the law, the law we all agreed on.
Our duty as militants who have been supporting your legitimate fight for your national rights and against occupation is to pressure our authorities to that effect in France and in Europe. Be assured that it is a major concern and our daily action.and we keep doing it. We will demand sanctions agains Israel as long as it behaves like a rogue state violationg the law on a daily basis.
One such violation concerns the Palestinian, prisoners whose legal and human canditions of detention are shameful. The kidnapping and detention of two of your elected representatives, Marwan Barghouti and Hussam Khader is highly symbolic of the scorn Israel feels for the rule of law.
On the 17 of April in France, AFPS will denounce once more the illegality of this situation and wil campaign to raise the awareness of our public opinion as to the unacceptable situation imposed by the occupying power to the Palestinian prisoners and the illegality of the Israeli occupation of Palestine.
In solidarity with you all, with all the prisoners, for justice which alone can bring about peace for all.
